VENTURE GROUPS

Obeying Jesus Together

Jesus didn’t keep how to love him a secret. He wasn’t vague. He didn’t beat around the bush. He didn't tell his apprentices to figure it out on their own. In fact, he was very direct:

“Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me” (John 14:23-24).

Jesus

Jesus Christ is the central figure of history, the main character of the Bible, and the King of all kings. Anything built without him as the cornerstone is doomed to fail.

Jesus is described as God, Lord, and Savior (too many references),"the pioneer and perfecter of our faith" (Hebrews 12:2), and the "chief cornerstone" of our faith (Ephesians 2:20). King Jesus is the great unifier and the only one around whom we build our allegiance as his apprentices.

Together

By design, God gave people one another to share the journey of following him. Indeed, in the creation account, God specifically said, "It is not good for the man to be alone," so he created a woman (Genesis 2:18).

The early church modeled togetherness and the people were described as having"everything in common...every day they continued to meet together...they broke bread in their homes and ate together, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people" (Acts 2:44-47).

Group Rhythms

We seek to obey Jesus together in our groups by passionately pursuing four different rhythms:

Learning | Praying | Serving | Playing
